Biography

 

Bernhard was born 1992 in Salzburg, Austria. After graduating high school, he moved to Vienna, where he gained professional set experience. Since 2014 he is student at the Vienna Film Academy.

His last short film EXCUSE ME, I'M LOOKING FOR THE PING-PONG ROOM AND MY GIRLFRIEND was awarded Best Short Film at the Austrian Film Awards 2019, premiered 2018 at the Moscow Film Festival, won the Max Ophüls Award, as well as both short film awards at the Diagonale – Festival of Austrian Film.

Bernhards last shorts have been screened at prestigious film festivals and won numerous awards. His doc KEEPING BALANCE got a Vimeo Staff Pick in 2017 and 2018 EXIT RIGHT went viral on Facebook with more then 12mio views in total. Two of his films have been broadcasted on ARTE.

Bernhard was part of several short film juries including Jameson Cinefest in Hungary and FEST in Portugal. 2019 Bernhard has become a member of the Austrian Academy of Film and participated in the „Nuits en Or“ tour of the French Académie des César.

Currently Bernhard is working on his first feature length film PEACOCK. With his script he was accepted into the 40th session of the Cinéfondation Residence of the 73rd Festival de Cannes 2020.
